Students in grades K-5 have been engaged all week in Hour of Code during their media time. Even Kindergarten spent time learning the basics of code! During Hour of Code, we used the Frozen activity, Flappy Bird, Scratch, Angry Birds, Tynker, and many more. The most popular this year overall was clearly Flappy Bird, although I think the 4th and 5th graders started to see the potential of Scratch and the many ways you can use code to create with this program.
I loved seeing the collaborating they were doing with one another and the problem-solving skills they used during their Hour of Code. I hope they continue to use it in their free time; I would love for them to share their projects with me if they do. I have created a page on my website dedicated strictly to coding. Keep it up!
