This week I introduced the authors for our 2015 Authors in April program. This year, AIA will be the week of April 20th-24th. I will give you the exact date as it gets closer, but keep this week open because this year is going to be just as exciting as ever! Click on the pictures below to visit the authors' websites.
Our authors this year are:
Students in grades 3-5 visited these websites then used their Google Apps for Education accounts to answer questions in a Google form about their AIA author. The students came up with some excellent questions and wonderings they have about the authors and their books. As the year progresses, we will see if some of these questions are answered.
In first and second grade we read the book, Goldie Socks and the Three Libearians, and reviewed the Five Finger Rule. Please encourage your child to use this when selecting books to read. They will become better readers if they are reading books that are "just right" for them. Even older students can use this rule when choosing books. Print the age-appropriate posters below and refer to them often.
We also learned the IPICK acronym and what it stands for. The students loved doing the IPICK rap during media. Take a look below to see what it’s all about and here’s how you can help your child at home with IPICK.
